Delete your account and data
This page is for Chickadee, the camping app from Cedar & Fog Labs, LLC, on iOS and Android.
Chickadee has no username, password, or login. The only account the app ever creates is for Premium Sync: when you turn sync on, the app links your device to a household on our servers and keeps a copy of the household's content there so your devices stay in step.
If you never turned on Premium Sync, there is no account, and we hold none of your camping data. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
Delete from the app
Open Settings on a synced phone and choose "Delete the household's synced data" (when only one phone is linked, the same action is called "Turn off sync"). This removes the household's content, the recovery email, and the device links from our servers right away. Each phone keeps its local copy until you uninstall the app.
Request deletion by email
If you no longer have a synced phone, email us at trust [at] cedarandfoglabs.com and ask us to delete your synced data. Sync accounts have no username, so we need one of the following to find your household:
- Send the request from the recovery email you saved in the app, if you saved one.
- Include the Diagnostic ID shown in the app's Settings on any phone that was linked to the household.
If you can provide neither, we cannot connect you to any data on our servers. Synced data is not stored under your name, your email address, or anything else that identifies you, so without one of the identifiers above there is nothing we can match a request to.
What is deleted, and what remains
Deleting your synced data removes the household's content (gear, bins, trips, meals, recipes, people, and follow-ups), the recovery email, and the device links from our servers.
A few operational records expire on their own schedule instead of at the moment you ask: server logs are deleted after 30 days, feedback submissions after 30 days, and crash reports after 90 days. Usage analytics are identified only by a random Diagnostic ID, never by your name or email. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
